GENERIC NAME
Inotropin
CLASS
Adrenergic
Inotropic agent.
MECHANISM OF ACTION (MOA)
Dopamine works by stimulating different receptors in the body depending on the dose, helping to support blood pressure, heart function, and kidney perfusion.
Low dose (1โ5 mcg/kg/min)
โ Dopamine (D1) receptors
โ Dilates renal arteries โ improves kidney perfusion
Medium dose (5โ10 mcg/kg/min)
โ Beta-1 receptors
โ Increases heart rate and contractility
High dose (10โ20 mcg/kg/min)
โ Alpha-1 receptors
โ Causes vasoconstriction โ raises blood pressure
INDICATIONS
