Effects: The trades of goods between the Americas and Europe, population growth of Europe, introduction of diseases to the Americas

Bartolome de Las Casas
A critic of the Spanish government because of their actions towards the Native people of the Americas during the colonization

It granted land and labor of the natives and it had some failures such as natives escaping or dying
Casta System
A Spanish social hierarchy based on race. From lowest to highest goes Enslaved People, Native American Indians, Mestico: born Spanish and Native American, Creole: Spanish but born in America, and Pennisulares, who are Spanish born in Spain
Epidemics
Epidemics are a widespread disease in a community. These can include smallpox, measles, and the bubonic plague. It helped the Spanish colonizers beat the much larger native states because of their resistance to the diseases compared to the natives.

European Exploration
The four causes of exploration are God: meaning religion, Gold: meaning economic, Glory: meaning power (could be military), and population growth
The Spainish subjugated the natives, the French/Dutch treated the natives as trade partners, and the British expelled the natives from their land
The French/Dutch had a better relationship with the natives compared to Spain and Britain

Native Socieites
Native American tribes had social structures, and were also different in many ways
Substienence farming: farming for resources and creating your own food instead of hunting
Sedentary: a tribe staying in one place
Nomadic: a tribe moving to many places instead of just one
Maize: a crop that yields large grains on a cob (also known as corn)
