Jesus’ teachings

• Those who heard Jesus teach were amazed as they’ve never heard of his ways before

• They were convinced that his authority came from God

• These people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as teachers of the law’- Mark 1:22

Titles: Son of God

• Used for Kings in the Old testament

• ‘Son of’ means ‘reflecting nature of/like;

• Kings adopted by God at their accession

Titles: Messiah

• Included the idea of being chosen by God to rule on his behalf

Adoptionism

• Belief that Jesus was not divine by nature

• God adopted him as son at the baptism

Unitarianism

• 18th century

• Deist view of creation- God made the world and then He left it

• Jesus was a spiritual leader but teachings contain useful insights

Arianism

• Jesus has a beginning so Jesus cannot be God

• God doesnt have a beginning
