What are the 4 types of prejudice
Old-fashioned, modern, implicit and explicit
Old-fashioned prejudice
Members of the majority group openly reject minority group members and their views are obvious & recognisable
Modern prejudice
More subtle, hidden and expressed in ways more likely to be accepted within the majority group.
Explicit prejudice
Consciously held & usually deliberately though about
Implicit prejudice
unconsciously held, person is not aware that they hold the prejudice & it's usually not in their control
6 Ways to reduce prejudice
Intergroup Contact, Contact hypothesis, Mutual interdependence, superordinate goals, equality of status and cognitive interventions
