What are hormones?
They’re chemical messangers that transports through the bloodstream to the organs where the target cells are
What do they do?
Maintain homeostasis
Control growth and devlopment
Control fight or flight repsonse
Control energy production
Types of hormones?
Tropic and non tropic
What are tropic hormones?
They influence other glands to either decrease or increase their hormone prodcution, the four main ones are TSH, FSH,LH,ACTH
What are non tropic hormones?
They’re target cells and not glands, they directly stimulatye cell growth and hormone. All hormones except FSH,LHTSH,ACTH and GH can function as both tropic and non tropic.
