Relative Clause & Two Types:
a type of dependent clause that functions as an adjective, providing additional information about a noun or noun phrase in a sentence
Two types: defining (restrictive) *ex1 + non-defining (non-restrictive) *ex2
ex1: The dog that I adopted is very playful.
ex2: Her hair glistened in the sunlight, which made me want to take a candid photo of her.
Relative Pronoun
a pronoun that connects a noun or pronoun to an adjective clause
ex:
who/that, whose, whom, which/that, that, where, when
Identify subject/main clause, Relative pronoun, rest of Relative clause, and rest of main clause:
The boy who we saw studying is smart.
Subject/Main Clause: The boy
Relative Pronoun: who
Rest of R.C: we saw studying
Rest of M.C: is smart.
Strat for Standard English Convention Problem testing finite v. non-finite verb forms:
Find clause, then choose an answer choice that “sounds right”/”agrees” with the clause and the tense.

the form of a verb that indicates when an action or state of being occurs

Complex Tense:
“Aspectual tense” (convey more nuanced information about how actions relate to time)
