Moscovici et al
Ps in groups
presented with blue slides of varying intensity
Ps have to state colour of the slide
2 confederates in each group
confederates said 'green' on every trail or 'green' on some and 'blue' on others
minority was consistent = % of green response = 8%
minority was inconsistent = % of green response = 1%
Nemeth et al
same procedure as Moscovici
Ps can now respond with all of the colours they see
2 confederates in each group
condition 1 - confederates say green on 1/2 trails and blue/green on the other half (inconsistent)
condition 2 - confederates say green on the bright slides and green/blue on the darker slides (consistent and flexible)
condition 3 - confederates say green on every trail (consistent but inflexible)
in condition 2, 21% of responses influenced
conditions 1 + 3 had no effect
