-cube-like shape
-equal, length, width, & thickness
-provide stability, support, and some limited motion

-thin & curved
-points of attachment for muscles
-protects internal organs

Irregular Bones Features

-have complex shapes

-Vertebrae -- support spinal cord
-Facial Bones -- like sinuses

Sesamoid Bone Features

-small, round, sesame seed shape
-form in tendons where a lot of pressure is generated in joint
-protect tendons by helping them overcome compressive forces

-tendons with feet, hands, & knees
