Algorithm

A model or set of rules for a computer or software to follow in mining, calculations, or problem-solving operations.

Analytics

The discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data.

Business Trend

A general change in the way business is developing.

Coding

Utilizing computer languages in order to build web pages, apps, and software.

Data

Raw and unprocessed facts, just numbers and text.

Data Literacy

Competence in finding, manipulating, managing, and interpreting data (numbers, text and/or images) and translating it into information.

Data Mining

The act of examining large databases in order to reveal undiscovered trends or patterns.

Databases

Systematically organized or structured repository of indexed information (usually as a group of linked data files) that allows easy retrieval, updating, analysis, and output of data.

Electronic Data Interchange

Computer to computer exchange of normal business transactions including payments and purchase order requests.

Email

Almost instantaneous transfer of text, voice, and/or video messages from one computer or device to another, typically (but not necessarily) over the internet.

Environmental Scan

Careful monitoring of an organization's internal and external environments for detecting early signs of opportunities and threats that may influence its current and future plans.

Information Literacy

Skills which involve obtaining, analyzing, using, and storing information.

Information Management

A method involving the use of technology to collect, process, and condense information with an overall goal of efficient management.

Information Systems

A combination of hardware, software, and trained personnel that is organized to facilitate planning, controlling, and decision making.

Insight

This comes after information is analyzed and can be used to make better business decisions.

Internet

A means of connecting a computer to any other computer anywhere in the world via dedicated routers and servers.

Privacy

Having one's personal information protected and restricted from access.

Records

A basic data structure which contains one item of information.

Software

Programs used to direct the operation and functions of computer.

Web Page

A single, usually hypertext document on the World Wide Web that can incorporate text, graphics, sounds, etc.
