IgG Antibody
80% of all antibodies; used against viruses, bacteria and toxins, can be passed through placenta
IgM Antibody
first antibody secreted after antigen detection
-IgM production decreases as IgG increases
-Anti-A and Anti-B antibodies used for blood typing are IgM
IgD Antibody
Found on b cells
-binds to antigens in extracellular fluid
-important for sensitization of B cells
IgE antibody
Attaches to Mast Cells and Basophils
-When stimulated by antigen, causes release of histamine to increase inflammation
-important in allergic responses
IgA Antibody
Found in glandular secretions
-mucus, tears, saliva, breastmilk, semen
-Circulate as pairs or individuals
-Epithelial cells add secretory component
