Immediate Work Area
The area in which a person could contact energized equipment in the event of a fall or equipment slippage.
Protective Equipment
Equipment used to cover grounds, neutrals, and phase potentials within accidental reach when working on energized equipment.
Live-line Tools
Tools used when working on energized circuits, conductors, equipment, or apparatus carrying more than 5,000 volts.
Minimum Approach Distance (MAD)
The closest distance a vehicle or equipment can be to exposed energized circuits or equipment carrying more than 50 volts without being grounded.
