Discriminative Stimulus (SD)
In operant discrimination training, any stimulus that signals a behavior will be reinforced.
Successive Discrimination Training
A discrimination training procedure where the SD and S∆ are presented one after the other in random sequence.
Errorless Discrimination Training
A form of discrimination training where the S∆ is introduced weakly and gradually presented stronger.
Matching to Sample
A discrimination training procedure where the task is to select the comparison stimulus that matches a sample.
Oddity Matching
A variation of matching to sample where reinforcement is for selecting the comparison stimulus that differs from the sample.
Stimulus Control
The tendency for a behavior to occur in the presence of an SD but not in the presence of an S∆.
Simultaneous Discrimination
A discrimination training procedure in which the SD and S∆ are presented at the same time.
Generalization
The tendency for learned behavior to occur in the presence of stimuli similar to the SD.
Discrimination Training
Any procedure for establishing discrimination between different stimuli.
