Why is the crucifixion important for Christians today

- They also accept that suffering is a part of life and Jesus went through it too

30
New cards

Explain the idea of life after death called 'resurrection of the body'

• Many evangelical Protestants and other Christians believe that when people die they stay in the grave until the end of the world when God will raise everyone and judge everyone.

• The parable of the sheep and the goats sets out what things you need to do in order to go to heaven

• The sheep went to "eternal life" because of the good deeds they did

• The goats, who did none of these good deeds, received eternal punishment

35
New cards

Why did God create humans only to send them to hell

• God cannot control peoples actions, so he has to punish them if they sin

• There is no perfect world after Adam and Eve

• The fear of Hell deters people from sinning

• God gave people Jesus, who taught them how to live a righteous life, so if they choose to ignore this, he has to punish them

44
New cards

What does Jesus' resurrection show us in terms of salvation

• Jesus' resurrection shows Christians that the goodness of Jesus had defeated the evil of sin

• So Jesus' death now means humans can receive forgiveness for sin and eventually reach salvation and become close to God

• The fact that Jesus rose from the dead shows how God accepted his sacrifice as atonement

45
New cards

How is salvation a gift from God

• Salvation is God's greatest gift because it shows God's kindness, forgiveness and generosity
