Lift force

an additional force created by a pressure gradient forming on opposing surfaces of an aerofoil moving through a fluid

Bernoulli principle

creation of an additional lift force on a projectile in flight resulting from Bernoulli’s conclusion that the higher the velocity of air flow, the lower the surrounding pressure.

• the underlying theory of how an additional lift force can be created during flight based on the shape of a projectile, overall effect is to increase air time of the projectile, extending flight path and horizontal distance

• being able to manipulate the flow of air around a projectile can be of great advantage in the sporting field.

• shape has a curved upper surface and flat underneath surface.

the most favourable angle of release for a projectile to optimise lift force due to the Bernoulli principle
