Subjective and emotional attachment people have to a place. It is developed through experience and knowledge of a particular place. For example, knowing your place is safe

The idea that the world is a set of places and each place can be studied and is distinct

Place is a product of a particular set of social processes occurring at a particular time

Place isn’t about unique characteristics but about how an individual experiences place

What are insiders and outsiders when referencing place

An insider is someone who feels like they belong and are connected to a place. For example, someone in their hometown. An outsider is someone who feels disconnected and out of place in that area. For example, a tourist.
