Interphase
DNA replicates; Cell produced proteins needed for cell division
Also produced enzymes needed for cell division
Prophase I (early)
Chromosomes condense and become visible
Prophase I (Late)
Crossing over occurs, the spindle forms, and the nuclear envelope breaks up
Metaphase I
Paired homologous chromosomes line up along equator of cell
Anaphase I
Homologous chromosomes separate to opposite poles of cell. Sister chromatids remain joined
Telophase I
The chromosomes complete their movement.
Nuclear envelopes form around chromosomes, which may temporarily decondense.
The spindle disappears.
Cytokinesis
May divide cell into two.
