Step 3: irrittability
Assessed using pain-related measures and patient reported disability and activity avoidance
Repeatative extension movements and is common in sports like gymnastics. Can present secondary to knee OA, obesity, diabetes, post-op trauma from equipment.
Pain located in front of knee behind the patellar tendon and provoked with knee extenion or deep palpation.
Fat Pad Irritation
Common in runners after increase in training load or hills.
Pain in lateral aspect of knee and TTP of lateral epicondyle.
IT Band Friction Syndrome
Variety of hx including repetative sport activities and is common in OA individuals. Pain at Pes Anserine
Pes Anserine Bursitis
Swelling and tenderness above the kneecap.
Suprapatellar Bursitis
Swelling and tenderness on top of patella. Repetative kneeling or blow to the kneecap
Prepatellar Bursitis
Swelling and tenderness at the distal attachment of patellar tendon. Associated with kneeling and leaning on your heels
Infrapatellar bursitis

Osgood Schallaters instead of infrapatellar bursitis
Traction Ophysitis of growth plate tissue at tibial tubercle. only occurs during growth years
repativie jumping and squatting. females 8-13, males 10-15.
Osgood Schlatter Disease
Traction aphosyitis at the patellar growth plate. pain at inferior pole of patellar. only will happen with open, active growth plates.
Sinding-Larsen-Johansson Syndrome
What are some common factors with OSG and SLJ?
warm-up phenomonon and common in kids in sport specialization. be cautious on loading the extensor mechinsm. focus on load managment.
Hx of Patellar Subluxation, common in ages 10-17.
