Nucleus
The organelle that stores genetic information and controls cellular activities.
Genetic Information
The information encoded in DNA that is stored inside the nucleus.
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)
A network of tubes throughout the cytoplasm, divided into rough ER (with ribosomes) and smooth ER (without ribosomes).
Rough ER
Endoplasmic reticulum associated with ribosomes, primarily involved in protein synthesis.
Smooth ER
Endoplasmic reticulum without ribosomes, primarily involved in lipid synthesis.
Ribosomes
Cell structures made of RNA and protein that synthesize proteins.
Golgi Apparatus
An organelle that modifies, sorts, and packages proteins and lipids for transport.
Protein Synthesis
The process conducted by ribosomes, where proteins are synthesized from amino acids.
Lipid Synthesis
The process carried out by smooth ER, where lipids are produced.
