Pressure
The force exerted per unit area.
Atmospheric Pressure
The pressure exerted by the weight of air in the atmosphere.
Cyclone
A large storm system characterized by low pressure and high winds that forms over warm ocean waters.
Wind
The movement of air from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure.
Force
An interaction that causes an object to change its velocity.
Pascal (Pa)
The SI unit of pressure, equivalent to one newton per square meter.
Thunderstorm
A rain-bearing cloud that produces thunder and lightning.
High-speed Winds
Winds that can cause a decrease in air pressure and can lead to structural damage.
Moisture
Water vapor in the air, which is essential for the formation of clouds and precipitation.
Lightning
A sudden discharge of electricity in a cloud, between clouds, or between a cloud and the ground.
Static Electricity
An imbalance of electric charges within or on the surface of a material.
Eye of the Cyclone
The center of a cyclone where the winds are calm and the weather is usually clear.
Storm Surge
A rise in sea level caused by strong winds pushing water towards the shore.
Land Breeze
The flow of air from land to sea due to differences in air pressure.
Sea Breeze
The flow of air from sea to land due to differences in air pressure.
Wind Pressure
The force exerted by wind on surfaces.
Humidity
The amount of water vapor present in the air.
Condensation
The process by which water vapor in the air is changed into liquid water.
Evaporation
The process by which water changes from liquid to vapor.
