Simile
A figure of speech that compares two different things using the words "like" or "as" (e.g., "as brave as a lion").
Metaphor
A figure of speech that describes an object or action in a way that is not literally true, but helps explain an idea or make a comparison without using "like" or "as".
Personification

Alliteration
The occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.
Irony
A literary technique or situation in which there is a contrast between expectation and reality, such as when the intended meaning is the opposite of the literal meaning
