Medical Cardiac Arrest Protocol for EMTCC

  1. approach pt and do pulse checks and breathing checks

  2. if pulseless and apneic, begin chest compressions with a depth of at least 2 inches

    • rate = 110 / minute

  3. next is airway. if bystander CPR is being performed, CC performs airway interventions. if CC is on the chest, NCC performs airway interventions

    • IGEL, BVM, 15 L O2, 1 ventilation every 20th compression

    • use orogastric tube in the IGEL and connect to suction

    • for pediatrics (less than 15 y/o) ventilate once ever 10 compressions

  4. apply monitor pads and follow instructions
