Prosocial Behavior
Any action intended to benefit another person.
Bystander Effect
The presence of other people who might potentially help actually inhibits or drives down helping.
Diffusion of Responsibility
As the number of people present increases, a stepwise decrease in any one person's sense that they have responsibility to help.
Direct Reciprocity
You have received help, and therefore you're likely to help that person again.
Upstream Indirect Reciprocity
x, a person, helps another person, y, because they were helped by a third person
Downstream Indirect Reciprocity
The person X helps another person Y, because Y helped Z.
Moral Elevation
If someone has witnessed someone else do something exceptionally helpful; makes it more likely that you, if you're feeling that way, helps.
Empathy
The ability to perceive and be sensitive to the emotional states of others.
