Unitary State
An independent state that concentrates power in the central government and grants little or no authority to its subnational units.
Federal State
An independent country that disperses significant authority among subnatinal units.
Irredentism
The political claim to a territory in another country based on ethnic affiliations and historic boundaries

Occurs when a collection of nation-states and their citizens relinquish(give up) some sovereign rights to large scale body that exersize authority over its member states.
Supranational organizations
International political body that nation-states establish in cooperation with their neighbor for mutual political, military, economic, or cultural gain.
Regional Trading Bloc
A multi-national agreement that reduces or eliminates taxes to promote free flow of good and services across international borders.
