What is Utilitarianism?
Holds that the most moral choice has to result in the greatest amount of overall happiness
What are Two objections to Utilitarianism?
1) There is more to life than just pleasure.
2) Utilitarianism demands us to do what is unjust
What is Hedonism?
Holds that pleasure, happiness, and enjoyment are the sole/ primary goods in life
What is Quantitive Hedonism?
A higher pleasure is one that results in higher QUANTITY of happiness
What is Qualitative Hedonism?
A higher pleasure is one that results in higher QUALITY of happiness
What are lower pleasures? What are higher pleasures?
1) Physical, bodily pleasure.
2) Intellectual, mental pleasure
