Non-Mendelian inheritance
Phenotype expression that is not solely the result of dominant and recessive alleles.
Continuous variation
Traits that can show a range of small differences due to the influence of multiple genes.
Polygenic inheritance
Inheritance pattern where multiple genes influence a single trait.
Pleiotropic inheritance
Inheritance where one gene causes multiple variations of phenotype.
Incomplete dominance
Inheritance pattern where heterozygous individuals exhibit a phenotype that is a blend of both alleles.
Codominance
Inheritance pattern where both alleles are fully expressed in the phenotype of heterozygotes.
Epistasis
Genetic interaction where the phenotype of one gene is dependent on one or more modifier genes.
X-linked traits
Traits determined by genes located on the X chromosome, often exhibiting different patterns in males and females.
Linkage
The tendency of genes located close together on a chromosome to segregate together during meiosis.
Heat-sensitive alleles
Alleles that express different phenotypes in response to temperature changes.
