The black hole in the center of the iris, the colored part of the eye.
Pupil
A clear, curved structure located behind the iris in the eye, serving to focus light rays onto the retina.
Lens
a flat, colored, ring-shaped membrane behind the cornea of the eye, with an adjustable circular opening (pupil) in the center.
Iris
is the thin, clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye (sclera) and lines the inside of the eyelids
Ocular conjuctiva
The portion of the conjunctiva that covers the inner surface of both the upper and lower eyelids.
Palpebra Conjuctiva
the raised disk on the retina at the point of entry of the optic nerve, lacking visual receptors and so creating a blind spot.
Optic Disc
A small depression at the center of the macula, a yellowish area in the retina responsible for central vision and sharpest acuity
Fovea centralis
A small, yellowish oval area in the center of the retina responsible for sharp, detailed central vision
Macula lutea
The layer of blood vessels and connective tissue between the white of the eye and retina
Choroid
The white outer layer of the eyeball. At the front of the eye it is continuous with the cornea.
Sclera
the light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye responsible for converting light into signals that the brain interprets as vision
Retina
the transparent, dome-shaped front part of the eye that covers the iris, pupil, and anterior chamber
Cornea
attach the ciliary muscles to the lens and hold it in place
Suspensory Ligaments
a ring-shaped structure within the eye, located behind the iris, that plays a crucial role in focusing the lens and producing aqueous humor
Ciliary body
folds in the eye's ciliary body, which is a ring-shaped structure surrounding the lens
Ciliary processes
a smooth muscle ring located in the eye's middle layer (uvea), specifically within the ciliary body
Ciliary muscle
a fluid-filled space located between the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye) and the iris (the colored part of the eye).
Anterior chamber
a narrow space in the eye filled with aqueous humor, located between the iris and the lens
Posterior chamber
a water-like fluid that lies in front of the lens
Aqueous humor
a gel-like substance that fills the majority of the space inside the eye
Vitreous humor
a ring-shaped passageway in the eye that drains aqueous humor and maintains fluid balance
Canal of schlemm
