Diffusion

The movement of particles in liquids and gases from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration until equilibrium is achieved.

Concentration Gradient

A difference in the concentration of a substance between two areas.

Steeper Concentration Gradient

A larger difference between concentrations, resulting in faster diffusion.

Passive Diffusion

Diffusion that does not require energy.

Gaseous Exchange (in Lungs)

Example of diffusion in the body where oxygen diffuses from the alveoli (high concentration) into the blood (low concentration) down a concentration gradient.
