Equity
The fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all individuals, while striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have historically led to unequal treatment.
Diversity
The presence of differences within a given setting, encompassing various dimensions such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and ability.
Inclusion
The practice of creating environments in which any individual or group can be and feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued.
Cultural Humility
An approach to understanding and engaging with diverse cultures that involves self-reflection and a willingness to learn from others.
Implicit Bias
Unconscious attitudes or stereotypes that affect understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner.
Generational Trauma
The transmission of the collective emotional and psychological wounds of trauma experienced by a particular generation, passed down to subsequent generations.
Occupational Justice
The right for all individuals to engage in meaningful occupations and activities that allow them to participate in society and improve their quality of life.
Disability Identity
A person's recognition and acceptance of their disability as an integral part of their self and culture.
Quality of Life
The standard of health, comfort, and happiness experienced by an individual or group.
Cultural Reflexivity
The practice of being aware of and reflecting on one's cultural assumptions and biases, and understanding their impact on interactions with others.
