Masseter

Muscle that connects the zygomatic arch to the angle and ramus of the mandible.

Temporalis

Muscle connecting the temporal fossa to the coronoid process of the mandible.

Lateral pterygoid

Muscle linking the greater wing of the sphenoid to the neck of the mandible.

Medial pterygoid

Muscle that attaches from the medial surface of the lateral pterygoid plate to the medial surface of the angle of mandible.

Platysma

Muscle emerging from fascia over deltoid and pectoralis, extending to the lower mandible and skin of the lower face.

Digastric

Muscle from the digastric fossa of the mandible and mastoid notch of the temporal to the intermediate tendon to the body of the hyoid.

Stylohyoid

Muscle extending from the styloid process to the body of the hyoid.

Mylohyoid

Muscle running from the mylohyoid line of the mandible to the body of the hyoid.

Geniohyoid

Muscle connecting the mental spine of the mandible to the body of the hyoid.

Buccinator

Muscle from the alveolar processes of maxilla and mandible to the orbicularis oris.

Depressor anguli oris

Muscle extending from the mandible to the corner of the mouth.

Depressor labii inferioris

Muscle connecting the mandible to the lower lip.

Mentalis

Muscle from the mandible to the skin of the chin.

Risorius

Muscle that originates from the fascia of parotid to the corner of the mouth.

Zygomaticus major

Muscle from the zygomatic bone to the corner of the mouth.

Zygomaticus minor

Muscle extending from the zygomatic bone to the upper lip.

Nasalis

Muscle connecting the maxilla to the nasal cartilage.

Upper trapezius

Muscle extending from the occipital bone to the lateral clavicle and acromion.

Levator scapulae

Muscle from C1–C4 vertebrae to the superior angle of scapula.

Splenius capitis

Muscle from C7-T4 vertebrae to the mastoid process and occipital bone.

Splenius cervicis

Muscle connecting from T3-T6 vertebrae to the transverse processes of C1-C3.

Erector spinae

Group of muscles including spinalis, longissimus, and iliocostalis.

Spinalis

Part of the erector spinae, from spinous processes of vertebrae to spinous processes of more superior vertebrae.

Longissimus

Part of the erector spinae, connecting transverse processes to ribs and mastoid process.

Iliocostalis

Part of the erector spinae, linking iliac crest to ribs.

Multifidus

Muscle from the sacrum to spinous processes of superior vertebrae.

Rotatores

Muscle connecting transverse processes to spinous processes of the next vertebra.

Interspinales

Muscles running between adjacent spinous processes.

Intertransversarii

Muscles connecting adjacent transverse processes.

Rectus capitis posterior major

Muscle from the spinous process of C2 to the occipital bone.

Rectus capitis posterior minor

Muscle from the posterior tubercle of C1 to the occipital bone.

Obliquus capitis inferior

Muscle connecting the spinous process of C2 to the transverse process of C1.

Obliquus capitis superior

Muscle from the transverse process of C1 to the occipital bone.

Sternohyoid

Muscle extending from the manubrium and clavicle to the body of the hyoid.

Sternothyroid

Muscle from the manubrium to the thyroid cartilage.

Thyrohyoid

Muscle extending from the thyroid cartilage to the body of the hyoid.

Omohyoid

Muscle connecting the scapula to the hyoid.

Muscle extending from manubrium/clavicle to the mastoid process.

Scalene

Longus capitis

Muscle from C3-C6 transverse processes to the occipital bone.

Latissimus dorsi

Muscle from spinous processes of T6-L5 and iliac crest to the humerus.

Pectoralis major

Muscle connecting clavicle, sternum, ribs to the humerus.

Pectoralis minor

Muscle connecting ribs 3-5 to the coracoid process of scapula.

Serratus anterior

Muscle that extends from the upper 8 ribs to the medial border of the scapula.

Serratus posterior superior

Muscle running from T1-T3 vertebrae to ribs 2-5.

Serratus posterior inferior

Muscle connecting T9-T12 vertebrae to ribs 9-12.

Erector spinae

Muscle group extending from the iliac crest and sacrum to the ribs and vertebrae.

Levator costarum

Muscle connecting the transverse processes of C7-T11 to the ribs below.
