What is absolute humidity

Defintion: the total mass of water vapour
TVD: the total number of vampires in mystic falls

What is specific humidity?

Defintion: the wegiht of the water compared to the total weight of the air, ratio stays the same even if the air expands or shrinks
TVD: think of this as the ratio of humans to vampires

what is relative humifity?

Defintion: the percentage showing how much water is in the air, comapred to the max amount of water it can hold at that specific temperature
TVD: if a vampire has the capacity for 10 bages but they ony have 5, their RH is 50%, whent hey reach 100 they are saturated

What is dew point temperature?

Defintion: the exact temp the air needs to cool down to become 100% saturated (if it hits this point then the water vapour turns into liquid)

How do you measure humidity?

Using the hygrometer, sling psychrometer (dry bulb and wet bulb) → think of the lab

what is an air parcel → an original vampire

Defintion: a bubble of air that stays togteher as it moves and does not mix with the air around it
TVD: an original vampire, they are self-contatined unit of power

what is adiabatic heating and cooling? → humanity switch status

Defintion: when air rises it expands and cools down,when air sinks it gets squeezed and heats up, no heat is added ot taken away (just a pressure change)
TVD: humanity switch, vampire rises above the drama and they cool off, whereas when a vampire is pushed down into a dark situation, the pressure builds and they heat up with rage

what is liftin condensation level? (LCL) → breaking point/first kill

Definition: the exact height where a rising air parcel has cooled down enough to reach its dew point, this is where clouds and liquid water starts to form
TVD: the first kill, a vampire rises through drama for a while but once they hit LCL they reach their breaking point, the invisible hunder becomes visible could of blood and chaos

what are the 3 types of atmospheric stability?

stable, unstable, conditionally stable

what is stable air? (stefan, calm and grounded)

Defintion:the air parcel is colder and hevaier than the air around it
TVD: Stefan on animal blood, he is cool headed and grounded, nothing blows up

what is unstable air? (Damon, volatile and fiery)

Defintion: the air parcel is warmer and lighter than the air around it, once it starts rising it keeps going on its own because it is hotter than the enviornment (leads to massive thunderstorms)
TVD: Damon season 1 → he is gotter than the town can handle, give him a tiny push and he rises into a total frenzy, he fuels himself till the sky is filled with a storm

what is conditionally stable air? (Elena, stable until turned)

Defintion: the air is stable unless you force it to rise to a certain height (the LCL), it is stays low fine, but if it is forced high enough to start condensing, it becomes wamer than the air ariund it and turns stable
TVD: elena as a human, she is mostly stale but when she is forced into a supernatural situation (LCL) she condenses into a vampire, she becomes warmer and more unstable, and the drama takes off on its own

what is DALR?

Defintion: Dry adiabatic lapse rate, it is the rate that a dry parcel cools (10 degrees per 1000m)
TVD: early season stefan, he is rising above the drama but staying dry he cools down

what is MALR

Defintion: the rate a saturated parcel cools (6 degrees per 1000m) cools slower because condensation releases heat
TVD: elena as a new vampire, shes saturated with heightened emoitons, as she rises, her internal heat, keeps her wamer for longer than stefan

What is ELR

Defintion: the actual temperature of the town as you go up
TVD: the town counsil, this is the baseline temperature of mystic falls, we compre our vampires, to the council to see if they are unstable

what is the collision coalescence?

Defintion: large droplets fall, or bump into smaller ones and eat them to get bigger
TVD: klaus building his hyprid army, one big powerful vampire travels around, collecting smaller ones until the group is heavy enough to cause a massive impact

what is the bergeron process?

Defintion: they are cold clouds, ice crystals grow by stealing water vapour from nearby liquid droplets
TVD: katherine Pierce, she is the ice crystal, she sits in the middle of a group and sucks the and resources out of everyone around her until shes the only powerful one left

What is virga?

Defintion: it is the rain that evaporates before hitting the ground?
TVD: a plan that fails, the tension builds, the rain starts to fall, but then bonnie casts a spell and the drama vanishes before anyone actually gets hurt

what are stratiform clouds?

Defintion: layers, flat, grey and covers the whole sky
TVD: the founders party, a blanket of fake nice that covers the whole town, dull, persistent and has 100% chance of hidden drama

what are cumuliform clouds?

Definition: puffy and vertical, big cotton bal clouds that grow tall
TVD: a salvatore brother brawl it starts small and puffy, but quickly builds vertically into a masskve, dark cumulonbus, that brights lightning and chaos

what are cirroform clouds?

Defintion: high altitude, think, icy clouds
TVD: elijah mikaelson, high-class elegant and think (refined) hes way above the petty drama, looking down from the highest level

what are the 5 fog types?

radiation, advection, upslope, valley, evaporation

what is radiation fog?

Definition: ground cools fast at night and chils the air above it

what is advection fog?

Definition: warm, moist air blows over a cold surface

what is upslope fog?

Definition: air is forced up a hill, cools and fog forms

what is valley fog?

Defintion: cold, heavy air sinks into a valley at night

what is evaporation fog?

Defintion: cold air moves over warm water and the water steams up
