description: “palace” at Knossos with similar features as other structure on Crete. Some important features include the rectangular bull court facing a nearby mountain, magazines for storing goods, narrow and few entrances, and simple columns with rounded capitals on top.
analysis: The bull court may suggest some sort of religious or at least ceremonial significance for the location, especially considering it was facing a nearby mountain and with depictions of bulls on artwork, like frescoes. The numerous magazines support the theory of a redistribution economy.

Analysis:
2.8 Corinth and her Colony Corcyra by Thucydides
account of the relationship between Corinth and its colony Corcyra, detailing the political tensions and conflicts between the two. Of particular interest is the account of the Epidamnians of the city of Epidamnos, colony of Corcyra. The Epidamnians sought assistance from Corcyra against barbarians, who refused. They then sent a delegation to Delphi to consult the Gods and received guidance to seek the help of Corinth. Corinth responded by sending a fleet to aid Epidamnos as they viewed it as their own colony and didn’t like Corcyra whose people didn’t honor them through the usual customs.
