Dermal Tissue
The protective outer layer of a plant.
Vascular Tissue
Tissue responsible for the transport of water and nutrients in plants.
Ground Tissue
Plant tissue that is neither dermal nor vascular; responsible for photosynthesis, storage, and support.
Root System
The part of a plant that typically grows underground and anchors the plant while absorbing water and nutrients.
Shoot System
The aerial part of a plant, consisting of stems and leaves.
Phloem
The vascular tissue that transports sugars and nutrients produced by photosynthesis.
Xylem
The vascular tissue that transports water and minerals from the roots to the rest of the plant.
Geotropism
The growth response of a plant to gravity.
Thigmonasty
A plant's response to touch stimuli, resulting in movement.
Photonasty
A plant's response to light, resulting in movement.
Thigmotropism
The directional growth of a plant in response to touch, such as climbing plants wrapping around supports.
Phototropism
The growth of a plant towards light.
Tropism
Any growth or movement of a plant in response to an environmental stimulus.
