upper/lower - together rotate scapula upward

spinous processes of T6-12, thoracolumbar fascia, posterior iliac crest, and inferior 3-4 ribs

latissimus dorsi insertion

floor of intertubercular groove of humerus

latissimus dorsi action

extends, adducts, medially rotates glenohumeral joint

latissimus dorsi innervation

thoracodorsal n. C6-8

levator scapulae origin

posterior tubercles of transverse processes of C1-4

levator scapulae insertion

medial border of scapula superior to spine of scapula

elevates and downwardly rotates scapula

bilaterally - extends neck

unilaterally - laterally flexes neck ipsilaterally

medial border of scapula from level of spin to inferior angle of scapula

retracts, downwardly rotates, and stabilizes scapula to thoracic wall
