when does treatment begin
after virus injects DNA
what recognises 'the' sequence
Cas1-Cas2
what does cas1 and cas2 recognise
the PAM sequence
what do they then do
they cut a short section out of the viral DNA and then insert it into the CRISPR gene, becoming a spacer
what is viral DNA called when its cut out
protospacer
what happens after the spacer is incorporated
the sequence and some of the palindronic repeats on either side are transcribed to procuce guide RNA molecule. (gRNA)
What is gRNA complementary to?
the viral DNA within the cell
where does gRNA bind
the cas 9 enzymes
what does this form
CRISPR-cas9 complex
What does CRISPR-cas9 comples do
scans the DNA fragments within the cell for PAM sequences. When it finds a match cas9 cleaves(cuts) the phosphate sugar backbone on both ends, creating blunt ends.
