In which structure does the heart muscle contract similary?
Smooth/skeltal muscle
Myogenic meaning
contraction without need of stimuli
Does cardiac muscle contract without nervous system?
Yes
How does a cardiac muscle look?
long cylindrical cell with 1 of 2 nuceli
Cardiac muscle contracts with BLANK same as skeltal muscle and has BLANk
Sarcomere, and Intercalated Dics
What is a pacemaker?
they are found in the SA node AV node and purkinjie fibers and they automatically fire action potentials that start each heart beat
What is a key feature of the pacemaker?
Its responsbility is to trigger the contraction process NOT PUMPING BLOOD
What are conduction fibers?
spread electrical impulses quickly through the heart they make sure that all parts of ventricles contract in sync to pump blood effectivrly.
Where are conduction fibers located?
Bundles of his, right and left bundle branches, and purkinjie fibers
What is a key feautyre of conduction fibers?
they have many gap junctions which allows impulses to travel rapidly cell to cell
What are contractile cells?
these are heart muscle cells that actually contract to pump blood out of the heart and respond to electrical signals from the conduction fibers
Where are contractile cells located?
most of myocardium, walls of atria and ventricles
What is a key feature of contracticle cells?
they have many actin anfd myosin and need alot of calcium in order to do their function, need lots of energy
What are perkinjie fibers?
allows ventricles to get a strong contraction
P Wave
shows atrial system- atria gets signal first
QRS
ventricular syastolie and atrial diastolity also known as the on switch that makes ventricles contract
T wave
ventricular diastole
first sound of heart beat
Av valve closing and that signals a systole when the valves open
what is the second sound of heart beat?
when SL valve closes at the begining of ventricular diastole also known as the sound of relaxations
what is ventricular filling?
mid to late diastole, blood pressure is lower when atria flows into ventricles.
