Average Rate of Reaction
The change in concentration of a reactant or product over a given time interval.
Instantaneous Rate of Reaction
The reaction rate at a specific point in time, determined by the slope of the tangent at that point.
Differential Rate Law
A mathematical expression that relates initial reactant concentration to reaction rate; derived from varying initial concentrations.
Integrated Rate Law
An equation that relates the concentration of a reactant to time, determined by measuring concentration at regular time intervals.
Secant
A line drawn between two points on a curve, used to find the average rate of change.
Tangent
A line that just touches a curve at a point, used to find the instantaneous rate of change.
Spectrophotometer
An instrument used to measure the change in color intensity to indicate a change in concentration.
Reaction Rate
A measure of the change in concentration of reactants or products as a chemical reaction progresses over time.
Stoichiometry
The quantitative relationship between reactants and products in a chemical reaction.
Conductivity
A property indicating the concentration of ions in a solution, which can change during a reaction.
Negative Slope
Indicates a decrease in concentration of a reactant over time.
Positive Slope
Indicates an increase in concentration of a product over time.
