Acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes; can be the increase or decrease in speed.
Velocity
Includes both speed and direction of an object's movement.
Formula for Acceleration
a = \frac{\text{Final Speed} - \text{Initial Speed}}{\text{time}}.
Deceleration
The process of an object decreasing its speed.
Unit for Acceleration
Can be measured in meters per second squared (m/s²) or kilometers per hour squared (km/h²).
Speed Measurement
Speed is often measured in kilometers per hour (km/h) or miles per hour (mph).
Graphing Acceleration
The slope of a velocity vs. time graph represents acceleration.
Constant Acceleration
When the acceleration of an object remains the same over time.
Examples of Acceleration
An object throwing a softball or a vehicle speeding up.
