ribs and pubic symphysis
mainly made up of cartilage
bones are united by cartilage
2 types: synchondroses and symphyses
lacks a joint cavity
sychondroses
synarthosis
hyaline cartilage in between these bones/ unites bones
ex. epiphyseal plate (region found between the shaft and tips of the bone, it is made out of cartilage for majority of youth until puberty when it turns into actual bone through a process called ossification)
it is simply bone, cartilage, bone directly connected together
ex. joint between first rib and manubrium (sternum)
symphyses
fibrocartilage unites bones, resists tension and compression
slightly moveable
ex. intervertebral discs (made out of fibrocartilage)
