muscular system

visceral, cardial, and skeletal tissue. provides movement, circulation and digestion

nervous system

brain, spinal cord, nerves. sends messages to various parts of the body to regulate thoughts, movements, senses, wound healing, sleep, heartbeat + breathing patterns, reponses to stress, digestion, body processes (puberty)

endocrine system

hypothalamus, pancreas, adipose tissue, ovaries/testes. releases hormones while continuously monitoring levels

cardiovascular system

heart, blood vessels. moves blood throughout the body, brings oxygen and nutrients to organs and tissues, remove waste products

lymphatic system

bone marrow, thymus, lymph nodes, spleen, mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue. collects excess fluid from body’s tissues and recycles into bloodstream, helps absorb fats, protects against invaders

respiratory system

nose and nasal cavity, mouth and oral cavity, sinuses, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs, diaphragm. protects your body from breathing in harmful particles, allows speech, helps you smell

digestive system

gastrointestinal tract, biliary tract. breaks down and absorbs nutrients from food and liquids, also taking care of waste.

urinary system

kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra. filters your blood to get rid of waste, eliminating toxins and other waste products.

female reproductive system

labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, vaginal opening, hymen, urethra opening, vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes. allows you to have sexual intercourse and reproduce, produces sex hormones that maintain your menstrual cycle.

male reproductive system

testes, epididymis, ducts and accessory glands, penis, scrotum. concerned with reproduction and sexual pleasure.
