Religious freedom 

People who left were known as separatists (if you left England for religious reasons) because you were separate from the church of England not the government of England (big difference) 

They believe in the English firm of government, but leaving for monetary reasons

Farmers - leaving because of the Enclosure Movement 

In England there was a movement for farmers to buy up bigger lands (sheep herding, needed bigger lands for grazing (would buy bigger lands) or start fresh as a farmer which is something you already know; bit risky but possible 

Second sons (don’t inherit anything, but can still afford to go to the New World)

seeking riches (Gold and Silver) -Thought they could find riches there and become richer and take everything back with them to where they’re from 

National Rivalries

Keep up with Spain 

England promoted this because they wanted to claim territory and catch up with the Spanish (didn’t want to be left behind)
