The Treaty of Versailles

It was signed on 28th June 1919- signed exactly 5 years after the assassination of the Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand. Acted as a peace treaty at the end of World War 1

League of Nations

An intergovernmental organization established in 1920 after World War 1 to prevent future wars through international cooperation and collective security.

Failed League of Nations

Due to a combination of structural weaknesses, lack of enforcement mechanisms, and the rise of nationalism and aggression in the 1930s

Rise of Fascism

A far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist ideology marked by dictatorial leadership, centralized power, militarism, suppression of opposition, belief in social hierarchy, and strict control over society and the economy for the perceived good of the nation or race.

Appeasement

Pacify, to make concessions to (someone, such as an aggressor or a critic) often at the sacrifice of principles. Appeased the dictator by accepting his demands.
