Reactivity of Metals trend
Increases down the group and decreases across the period.
Silver, Gold and Platinum
Do not react with oxygen (do not rust/oxidise)
Reactivity of Group 1
Highly Reactive
Catalyst
A catalyst is a substance that increases the rate of a reaction without going through permanent chemical change itself.
How do catalysts increase rate of change?
Catalysts either provide an alternate pathway for the reaction to occur by forming a compound and then being displaced to form a product or by providing a surface which enables the reaction to occur.
Heat of Vaporisation
Heat energy required to change 1mol of substance from liquid to gas.
Heat of Fusion
Heat energy required to change 1mol of substance from solid to liquid.
Bond Energy
The amount of energy required to break 1 mol of a stated bond into its constituent gaseous atoms under standard state conditions (25°C, 1 bar)
