Biological and Physiological Needs

examples:

1. the bread Frankl saved throughout the day

2. being friendly to the Capo for peas (from the bottom of the soup)

3. taking clothes from dead bodies

4. wrapping ankles with ripped pieces of blanket (later banned)

Safety Needs

Examples:

1. laughing and clapping at the Murderous Capo’s stories to stay safe

2. Friendly to the Capo to have a good spot (in the middle of the formation)

3. Becoming a Doctor (they said they would take care of the doctors)

Belongingness and Love Needs

1. Conversations with his wife (in his head)

Esteem needs

example:

1. reputation as a doctor

Cognitive Needs

example:

1. understanding the mental psychology of prisoners

Aesthetic Needs

examples:

1. The sunset

2. The Bavarian Hills (when he was taking a break)

3. Singing arias (the prisoner singing and the rest of them enjoying its beauty)
