Laser Treatment
A device that emits light through a process of optical implication based on the stimulated emissions of photons.
Laser
Light amplification of stimulated emission of radiation
Monochromatic
Light that is a single wavelength.
Coherent
Photons that travel in the same phase and direction.
Collimated
Photons that travel in a single straight beam.
Class 1 Laser
Barcode scanners used in supermarkets, laser pointers; <0.5 mW
Class 2 Laser
Toys; <1.0mW
Class 3A Laser
CD Player; <5mW
Class 3B Lasers
Most commonly used therapeutic lasers; <500mW
Class 4 Lasers
Surgical laser; thermal injury to tissues and include surgical lasers used to cut and cauterize tissue during surgical procedures; >500mW
Vasodilation
Increases blood flow to bring in oxygen and cells involved in the healing process
Replacement Therapy
Replace what has been lost from the body
Adjunctive Therapy
One type of fluid that is given to remove another type
Supportive Therapy
Fluid is given for support, might contain minerals, etc.
