why is biofuel debatedly carbon neutral?

plants and algae photosynthesise and lock up the sun's energy which is later released

why aren't biofuels carbon neutral?

trees are cut down so no longer absorb CO2, trees cut down release CO2 if burned, energy is required to harvest, process and transport biofuels which releases more CO2

what are the pros of biofuels?

renewable source, cheap, reliable, easy to transport, can be mixed with fossil fuels

what are biofuels?

fuel made from recently living organisms like plants or algae

what are the cons of biofuels?

need somewhere for the plants to grow, harvesting,processing and transport require energy which releases more CO2
