Phi Chi Theta History

● Formed in Chicago, Illinois on June 16, 1924

● Union of Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Kappa Epsilon

● Incorporated in New York on January 4, 1926

● Became co-ed in 1986

● By 1962, Phi Chi Theta included 51 collegiate chapters and 16 alumni chapters

● Because of its impressive status and support of women, the White House invited

fraternity leaders to a reception on October 11, 1963; they participated in a Report of the

President’s Commission on the Status of Women

● One of three Greek letter organizations recognized by the Commission as having

assisted in its work
