Atomic mass unit (amu)
A unit of mass used to express atomic and molecular weights.
Gamma radiation
A type of high-energy radiation often associated with radioactive decay.
Beta radiation
A form of radiation consisting of beta particles, which are high-energy, high-speed electrons or positrons emitted by certain types of radioactive nuclei.
Alpha radiation
A type of radiation that consists of alpha particles, which are composed of two protons and two neutrons.
Neutron (n0)
A subatomic particle found in the nucleus of an atom, possessing no electric charge.
Proton (p+)
A positively charged subatomic particle found in the nucleus of an atom.
Electron (e-)
A negatively charged subatomic particle that orbits the nucleus of an atom.
Modern Atomic Theory
A model that describes the nature of atoms, including their composition and behavior.
Element symbol Nb
The chemical symbol for niobium, a transition metal.
Isotopes
Atoms of the same element that have the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons.
