The ability to communicate, listen, share ideas, and work respectfully with others to solve problems or complete projects.

Data values

Individual pieces of information collected, stored, or processed by a computer

Digital Data

Information that is stored using a computer’s binary system, represented by 0s and 1s.

Bit

The smallest unit of digital data, short for “binary digit,” and can be either a 0 or a 1.

Byte

A group of 8 bits, commonly used to represent a single character of data, like a letter or number.

Abstraction

The process of simplifying complex systems by focusing on the main idea and ignoring unnecessary details.

Number bases

Systems for counting and representing numbers, such as base-10 (decimal) or base-2 (binary)

Binary

A number system that uses only two digits: 0 and 1; used by computers to process and store data.

Decimal

A number system that uses ten digits (0–9); the standard system for most human number use.

Place Value

The value of a digit based on its position in a number (e.g., in 345, the 3 represents 300).
