Person perception
The process of forming impressions of ourselves and others, including attributing causes to behavior.
Attribution theory
The theory that explains how people interpret the causes of behavior, attributing it to either disposition (internal traits) or situation (external factors).
Fundamental attribution error
The tendency to overestimate the influence of personal traits and underestimate situational factors when explaining others’ behavior.
Actor-observer bias
The tendency to attribute our own actions to situational factors but others’ actions to their personality.
Social comparison
Evaluating ourselves in relation to others, which can affect self-esteem positively or negatively.
