gene interaction

type of gene interaction in which a gene at one locus masks/modifies the effects of a gene at a diff. locus; product of a gene pair masks or modifies another gene pair 

epistasis

type of gene interaction in which a gene at one locus masks/modifies the effects of a gene at a diff. locus; product of a gene pair masks or modifies another gene pair 

epistatic gene

the gene that masks or modifies the effects of a gene at a different locus 

hypostatic gene

the gene of a locus that is being masked or modified 

recessive epistasis

presence of 2 recessive alleles masks the expressions of the dominant alleles at another locus; 9:3:4 phenotypic ratio 

dominant epistasis

the presence of a dominant gene masks or modifies the functionality of another gene; 12:3:1 phenotypic ratio 

duplicate recessive epistasis

the presence of recessive gene in either of two loci masks or modified the functionality of another other gene; 9:7 phenotypic ratio 

polygenic (characteristics)

characteristics encoded by genes at many loci
